Initiation ritual as brown long-eared bat ambassador

In autumn 2023, I was appointed ambassador of brown long-eared bat by the Embassy of Species Copenhagen.

Several ambassadors were present including ambassador of the great newt, parrot waxcap, seabuckthorn and common whitethroat.

For my initiation, I made a ritual where I drew imagined sound pulses of bats on the hand palms of the people present and invited them to walk with me hand in hand with our eyes closed while emitting screams to Bjerget “the mountain” on Amager Fælled, a nature area with many wild species as the great newt, parrot waxcap, seabuckthorn, common whitethroat and common noctule bat. When we were on the top of the mountain, I asked them to still keep their eyes while I caressed their arms and prepared them to fly! When we opened our eyes, we continued screaming and had our front to the building construction on Lærkesletten “the lark plain” which against the people’s will are being destroyed by Copenhagen Municipality, the pension PensionDanmark and the city planners By & Havn.
