Kunstdøgnet in Stavanger x Becoming Species

3 hours durational performance with Becoming Species in Vålandsskogen in Stavanger, addressing the species and the biodiversity crisis in oil nation.

Represented was brown long-eared bat, morris’s wainscot, wood horsetail, military orchid, woodpecker. Each species was located on different places in the woods doing each their repetitive ritual of ravelling and unravelling, pondering over the state of the world and where to place themselves. Three times the species gathered for a collective ritual of offering and burning a material / immaterial object that represented oil.

Becoming Species developed the performance by invitation from curators Koffi & Højgaard as part of Kunst in Uterom project 2026.

The brown long-eared bat offered a space for screaming and asked the audience to touch hands and develop wings. “Hand me your hand-wing” the bat asked and together they flew through space and darkness.
